50TH CHARTER ANNIVERSARY DINNER - 14th October, 2015.
On 14th October, 2015, the exact date of our charter, the Lions Club of Altona held is 50th Charter Dinner at the Williamstown RSL. President Maurie Tanian welcomed the ninety-seven current Lions, former members and friends of our club attended the night of fun, fellowship, reminiscing and dancing. .Also in attendance were Council Chairman Phillip Johnson and partner Anne, District Governor Wayne Oakes and partner Lion Judi, Cr. Jason Price from the Hobsons Bay City Council, and last but not least our Charter President Les Russell, who at the ripe old age of 87 regaled us with his memories of the old days. Two new young members were inducted by DG Wayne, Kate Cox and Paris Walker along with the presentation of Service Tabs to Lions Jack O'Sullivan (49 years) and Dick Murdoch (37 years.) by Council Chairman Phillip. All in all, it was a fantastic night of celebration.
ALTONA LIONS OUT AND ABOUTAs well as many local Community Projects we enjoy a very Social Life enjoying the company of other Lions in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our latest Social Activities include Lunch at Jackson on K, Movie and lunch, Mystery Bus Trips. Conventions.
CHERRY LAKE MARKETLions Club of Altona Cherry Lake Sunday Market is an outdoor market with 80 stalls in the spacious park next to Cherry Lake.
There are many bargains to be found at the many craft and bric a brac stalls including Trash & treasure, toys, clothes, preserves, home-grown and home-made goods.
Whilst shopping you can also munch on a sausage, hot dog or have a hot or cold drink knowing that all proceeds go into Community Projects in Hobsons Bay.
Set in scenic parkland alongside Cherry Lake, this market has something for everyone. Stalls include hand-knitted goods, plants (including orchids and ferns), clothing, souvenirs, confectionery, preserves, handmade wooden toys and furniture as well as secondhand treasures.
There is an adjacent barbeque area, free parking and seats for when you need to take a break. The stallholder fee is $20.
1st Sunday of each month plus the 3rd Sunday in December.
