LIONS AT WORK

Some of the activities we are involved in include:

WEEKLYSOUP VAN: This service has been operating for 9 years every Sunday evening, and provides soup, sandwiches and a hamper of food to those who are less fortunate. The soup Van attends a park in laverton and the Honeyhush Caravan Park. If you feel this could benefit you, contact us at altona.vic@lions.org.au

CHERRY LAKE MONTHLY MARKET is held on the first Sunday of every month, plus a Christmas Market on the third Sunday in December.. There are always bargains to be found at the many Craft and Bric a Brac stalls. While there you can visit our food van for a Sausage, or cold drinks. The Market can be found in Cherry Lake Reserve Millers Road Altona, between Kororoit Creek Road and Civic Parade. New stall holders are always welcome for further details contact us for a Registration form and details.   altona.vic@lions.org.au

We support the Lions LICOLA WILDERNESS CAMP. Each year we send a group of deserving primary school children to the Lions owned camp in Gippsland. The Altona RSL has for many year's provided the sponsorship for these children and we are most grateful.

YOUTH OF THE YEAR

HEARING DOGS is another project our club is keen to pursue again, over the years several residents have benefited by this wonderful project.

We assist the WESTERN SUBURBS TRIATHLON Club by supplying marshalls for traffic control during their various seasons.

Regular BUNNINGS BBQ's also helps us to raise funds for various community projects. This is well supported by locals doing theie weekly shopping.

HAVING FUN WHILE SERVING  is an important part of being a Lion as it helps bond the club together. These may include Theatre Nights, Bowling and Restaurant Nights.

The Lions Club of Altona, together with the Hobsons Bay City Council has, over 20 years, conducted an Annual AUSTRALIA DAY BREAKFAST.  We thank the Hobson's Bay Council for their hard work in helping make the day a success, I don't think people realise just how much support the Council give leading up to the event.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

MEMBERSHIP as with most clubs is always a priority issue with our club, as new membership is vital for the future of all Lions Clubs. New prospective members are always made to feel welcome with no pressure applied to join. Anyone wishing to join can contact the club at altona.vic@lions.org.au

Lions is a community service organisation! People join Lions because they want to user their intellect, creativity, commitment and enthusiasm to get things done.  This is where you can find out about the sorts of projects that your local Lions Club is doing.  Like what you see?  Get involved!
